Our emergency dental clinic in Sandy Bay, Hobart, will offer advice if necessary over the phone and schedule an appointment for you as soon as possible. New patients are welcome.
The initial visit allows us to diagnose the problem and to provide immediate treatment to relieve acute pain or discomfort. If required, appropriate after care and follow-up appointments will be organised for you as necessary.
When to seek medical or dental care in an emergency?
If your toothache is causing you facial swelling, difficulty or noisy breathing or trouble with swallowing, you need to see an emergency dentist immediately. If it is outside of our clinic hours, we recommend you go to the emergency room of your local hospital.
Some dental infections especially in the lower jaw near the throat can cause collapse of airways and obstruct your breathing – this constitutes a medical emergency and needs to be tended to as soon as possible, as it can become life threatening.
What to do with dental trauma?
In the event of tooth trauma, such as a knocked out tooth, sporting injury or broken tooth – we recommend you come in as soon as possible. Time is of the essence with dental traumas, as timely treatment is needed to improve the success rate and longevity of the tooth.
